GD School is based on the ideology and principles of the eminent scientist and industrialist, Sri G.D. Naidu. It is the brain child of Mr. and Mrs. G.D Gopal who were motivated and guided by Mr. & Mrs. Fowler, educationists in their own right.
​
From a humble beginning as Alda Fowler Nursery School in 1982 with 16 students, it has grown steadily into G.D. School with 920 students, 60 Teaching Staff, 12 ECA staff and 6 non-teaching staff. A class strength of 30 students from I to X is strictly adhered to, to ensure individual attention and efficient teaching. The higher secondary classes have Computer Science, Biology, Commerce streams.​

While academics is the most important aspect of school curriculum, the teaching as well as non - teaching staff are equally dedicated to the all round development of every child. Value education and extra-curricular activities such as yoga, aerobics, cookery, classical dance and music, western dance, band, Cubs and Bulbuls (IV & V), Scouts & Guides (VI - X), National Service Scheme (XI-XII), Heritage Club, Eco club DNA club, Personality development and Good grooming classes, attempt to draw out the best in each child.

This emphasis on holistic education has ensured that the students of G.D are achievers in every sphere. When they leave their Alma mater they are geared to face the world with courage confidence and humility, holding high the values of honesty and integrity, an abiding love of their motherland and concern for their less fortunate brethren.

A partnership agreement has been signed between GD School and the Zollberg – Realschule in view of the school exchange programme existing for the past 5 years. This was initiated as part of the beginning of friendly relations between the two cities of Coimbatore and Esslingen, Germany.

PASCH stands for the "Schools: Partners for the Future" initiative. It is a global network of 1,500 schools that place a high value on German. The aim was to establish a worldwide network of Partner-Schools, which promoted learning German, through which enthusiasm for the language and a know how of modern Germany could be awakened. The Goethe-Institut supports the schools by developing German as a subject. Our school has been selected as one among the 10 schools in Tamil Nadu by the Goethe-Institut, Delhi.

The Trust that runs this Institution is part of the GD Group which is highly acclaimed for its world class industries such as GeDee Weiler, Watertec Systems, G.Plast and UMS Technologies. The Trust also runs the GeDee Technical Training Institute and GeDee Public School. The GD Naidu Charities owns two private museums open to the public. The Technical Museum has an interesting collection of objects used in everyday life. The GeDee Car Museum is one of its kind in India and has about 60 cars. The objective of the museums is to kindle a sense of curiosity and encourage the children to ask the 7 Ws & 1 H.

School Curriculum - The school follows the Tamil Nadu State Board syllabus. It offers Tamil as first language in classes 1 to 10 and Hindi as the third language in classes 1 to 8. In the Higher Secondary classes Tamil, French and German are offered.
